Our Team
We believe that the Lord Jesus leads his church by his word, the Bible, but that he gifts and sets apart elders to lead local churches.
Leadership Team
We currently have four church elders, who are also the charity’s trustees – they make up our Leadership Team. Their main tasks are to pray for the church, teach the Bible, model Christian living and manage the affairs of the church.
Richard Perkins
Pastor and Elder
Before training as a gospel minister, Richard served in the Royal Navy as a junior officer and then taught schoolkids mathematics, design and technology and the Bible. He then headed to London to train at Dundonald Church, the Cornhill Training Course and then Oak Hill Theological College. He and his wife Rosslyn also spent a very enjoyable semester at Moore Theological College in Sydney. Upon graduation, he became the Lead Planter of a launch team for Christ Church Balham in SW London. He pastored that church for 15 years. He then served six years as the Director of Church Planting for the London-based Co-Mission church planting network before coming to King’s. He is married to Rosslyn who works part-time as a GP, an NHS appraiser and teaches Medical Students. They have three children who are growing up, moving on and slowly beginning to leave home. He is known by most people as Perks. In his spare time, he plays and watches a variety of sports.
Dave de Villiers
Elder
In his late teens, Dave was confronted by the truth that only Jesus has the words of eternal life, and after many years of stubborn rebellion he surrendered to His forgiveness. He is married to Carole and has two sons. Dave works for a global construction company and over the last 20 years his family have lived in six cities on three continents. By God’s grace, they have been a part of as many churches.
PJ Appleton
Elder and Engage Team Leader
Despite growing up in a Christian home, it wasn’t until his teenage years that PJ truly understood and accepted Jesus’ free offer of forgiveness and eternal life. He is married Claudia, who is originally from Ecuador, and they have a young daughter who speaks a jumbled mash-up of Spanish and English. PJ works in marketing, representing tech start-ups, but much prefers playing golf, watching sports, and nerd-ing out about history.
Richard Gray
Elder and Policies Overseer
Although Richard grew up in a loving home and attended a Christian secondary school it wasn’t until his early 30s, when he began to look into the claims of the bible in earnest, that he came to understand his greatest need was for salvation and that Jesus had died to save him. Richard is married to Tricia and they have been blessed with three (young) adult children. Until recently most of Richard’s working life had been spent in the finance and legal sectors. More recently he has been focused on supporting a number of charitable and voluntary organisations in the Christian and sports sectors.

Ministry Team Leaders
Our Ministry Leaders’ Forum (MLF) is made up of our Ministry Team Leaders from our congregation. Ministry Team Leaders oversee a team of people who together are responsible for various aspects of church life. The Ministry Team Leaders who make up the MLF are listed at the bottom of the page. The MLF meets up to 5 times per year and provides advice and feedback to the Leadership Team, so that they can make wise, transparent and collaborative decisions about the ministry and mission of the church.
